The line up of the Tuska festival is amazing. It is vast. It is huge. It is overwhelming. And even more, the party seems to find no end. Imagine, after a long, long festival day in Suvilahti the festival area will close at 1:00 am. But this is only closing time there! Literally! Because the parties, namely the After Show parties at Virgin Oil downtown Helsinki will have just begun to boil! Even before the festival will actually start, there is going to be a Pre Party at one of the most traditional clubs in Helsinki: the Tavastia! Door opening…

Deutsche Zusammenfassung Photos from their Nummirock gig – more to come! Part one Part two … Now, starting with part two of the interview with Jukka Kolehmainen from legendary Abhorrence. Looking forward for their festival gig at Nummirock ahead of us, I dug a little deeper into Abhorrence being back on stage. One reason why I particularly love attending festivals and concerts in Finland is that there seem to be no boundaries. You will find women in strict business outfits banging their souls out, little kids (with massive sound protection, of course) in the buggy next to their Metal Head and…

There are so many good reasons to come and experience Nummirock. Dozens of these reasons you may find at the festival’s vast line up. And one name on this list is better than the one before – no matter how often you start over reading. Another reason why I really wanted to come back this year, was to return to all these wonderfully bizarre people I saw, met and watched during the last time! Nummirock seems to be some kind of XL campsite and lakeside stage for all those who wish to express their very individual life style in extravagant dresses, make-ups…

I like meeting people who have a story to tell. And I met a man full of stories being a bit unexpected to happen in our so quickly evolving world. It all has a tiny little bit, please, really only a tiny little bit of Snow White’s fairy tale – save perhaps the fact that old school Death Metal is hardly associated with Snow White’s fairy tale at all. Perhaps neither Svart records, nor Jukka Kolehmainen see themselves as Prince Charming kissing the resting beauty awake. And even more perhaps Abhorrence never wanted to be Snow White. But there is…

Nummirock is, with more than 30 years of constant festival history, one of the most traditional, possibly even THE most traditional lakeside rock and metal festival there is in Finland – and even the German mega festival of Wacken has a shorter history than Nummirock! From the very beginning on there was an amazing if not legendary line-up meeting at the lakeside for some decent music experience. Early line-up highlights were: Uriah Heep (1988), Meat Loaf (1989), Status Quo (1990), The Ramones (1992 + 1994). Legendary Finnish bands like Emppu Normaali, Klamydia and Popeda have been loyal guests on stage…
